Want to break into that small 2% of marketers that make money online? Keyword research, how to go about it? Let me help you with some of the basics.
There are thousands of niche markets, complete with customers who are “ready to buy”! The trick is to find a “ready to buy” niche market and supply the product or service that they are looking for. You could monetize with affiliate offers, AdSense, or put something together yourself. Your visitors may just be looking for additional information, which you can supply-for a price.
Concentrate on niches you have some knowledge about, or better yet, some expertise in. If you’re going to work at this you may as well get some enjoyment out of it. Regardless of what you’re interested in, there will be niche opportunities available.
Keyword research is of the utmost importance in finding and than targeting any niche. If you were searching for information on “growing short red roses” you could use the search term “gardening” but you would probably not get the results you were seeking. Taken one step further, if you wanted information on “how to grow short red roses” that is what you would type in the search engine to get the relative information you were wanted. Start with less competitive, tightly targeted, niches to give yourself the best chance of success (go after to tougher ones later). Why search engine traffic? Because search engine traffic is by far the easiest to make money with.
What tools can you use to find money making niche markets? Google’s keyword tool works well for me-and it’s FREE (I love free stuff!). Try to target relevant keywords and phrases that look as though they will be profitable ie. “I want to buy” “where to find” “best price for” you get the idea. To get the most accurate results be sure to use the “exact match” option. I would go after some less competitive keywords especially when your just starting out. Try building your site around, say 10-20 long-tail keywords that are relevant to each other. Use these keywords in post titles, body text, and anchor text (the links back to your blog).
Finding profitable niches isn’t really that hard, put in your research time, cover all the bases, because building and unprofitable niche blog takes as much time as a money making one.
